Read @ Your own Risk – 2

14 May

My rants, chats and chants ( FB, Twitter )

(1)

( On, which comes first. The writer or the Readers / Readership )

Place first, whichever you like ( from the couple ) because one, surely finds the other one, provided of course, Destiny plans it so. Then, some couples live happily ever after, some live-in together for some time, some separate due to literary menopause for sometime, and some divorce permanently.

(2)

( on other writers’ influence, on “your writing” )

If I knew, It would not and should not, be present there, in my writing. But it is also true that every plant, tree has its roots well grounded in earth. Nothing grows in thin air. Now who will separate plant’s own ‘earth share’ and general earth. These things happen subconsciously & unknowingly.

(3)

( On Pen names )

People without pen names have made history. But in India pen names are very popular. It may help to separate a writer, from others and if catchy, catches fire and spreads far and wide. Mine is “Lineman”. My requirement was different. It helps keep my ego under check. Linemen are the well known field-hardworking, workers in India, who rise up electric poles, to unite electricity lines. Moreover, I love to feel / being reminded, that I am not yet a poet or writer. Only a person trying to unite lines & words.

(4)

( On “Do you have privacy at home?” )

Yours truly, happily married. Can’t afford the luxury of, privacy at home unless of course, I remember to lock, the bathroom door properly, from inside. Office / coffee shops no exceptions. Wives usually have long hands and handles ( proper usage is also well taught – at finishing schools, I suspect ). Come to think of it, local police stations could also be considered, for privacy, as you know, both husbands and beggars can not be the choosers. Yes, one more, when the wife is sleeping. But then I have to be cautious all the time. Sometimes she pretends to be asleep. Wonder why men don’t have finishing schools. Anyways, already too late for me especially when other and bigger finishing(s) are in the offing.
( 5 )
( Writer should be subjective or objective )
If a writer is not subjective and does not add his perspective / impressions, about his chosen topic, then s/ he is just a documentary maker. And if s/he is not objective, then fails to have permanent value. Readers stop relating. Difficult ? Who said writing is easy.
( 6 )
( Writer without being a reader )
Don’t know about passionately reading others’ work but a writer, who can not be a dispassionate reader of his own work, can not be, a writer at all !!
( 7 )
( Madam English Language’s famous “borrowing” )
English language c & pastes, from other languages : a positive “borrowing”.
When & if you and me, c & paste from other writers : a negative “plagiarism” “theft”

I simply give up. Can YOU solve this riddle?
But do not C & P this leaving in the middle !!
( 8 )
( A writer writing is accompanied by whom ? )
Me somewhat busy these days but my co reader inside you and the Motivator above shall do the Needful.
( 9 )
( on being understood / misunderstood by the Society )
If the society understands I feel good and if they misunderstand I am delighted profoundly. Its a win win situation. After winning I move on.
