All the best…..Indian Farmer !!

16 Mar

O Indian farmer, we’re  intelligentsia, the urbane hypocrites

All the best, please continue with your wretched….life-futile

One day we might actually account for your…..day & nights

And who knows, make your efforts really fully….worthwhile !!

He makes the dawn look goldener in the fields

And makes the days..look greener in the fields

But is himself….born in the tiresome evenings

Lives and suicides in the ominous dark nights !!

One day he will rise and will play…his mighty hand

He will be rich urbanite after selling….his dear land

Will be late but surely…all will face the second-half

We will eat last grain and his will be…the last laugh !!

O Indian farmer, we’re  intelligentsia, the urbane hypocrites

All the best, please continue with your wretched….life-futile

One day we might actually account for your…..day & nights

And who knows, make your efforts really fully….worthwhile !!

Yours truly,
‘religiously’ religion-less and ‘religion-less-ly’ religious !!

The hand that feeds the country is in such a mess.. It is sad that he has to sleep hungry himself ..

The most important aspect.. imagine if farmers go on strike and stop producing crop…

Pity their plight, it is going on like this since long. God save the farmers and the country. Have a good day Sir.

Loved this one! We just don’t cater to their trauma. Nature hits them hard, we flick away their problems – and then we call ourselves a Farmer’s nation.

There should be proper subsidies for farmers, like they do here in Britain, but nevertheless they are innocent victims of the greed of commercial capitalism and a market that penalises them while rewarding hordes of overfed shareholders. A big shame.

In India they don’t treat farmers well..people don’t realise it’s because of the farmers hard work we get to eat food..
    A really nice poem..:)

It is not merely Indian farmers, these hard working people tile from morning till evening and while his work is about to fructify, sometimes, sahukar (money lender) robs him and other times nature’s future mixes all his hardwork into dust – as the unseasonal rain has done havoc to the wheat and other crops sown by the farmers. I know what they undergo, since I have gone through all these in my early days.

The rate at which farmland is being concretised for what we call development, I am sceptical about where food will come from in the future. On top of that, the condition of farmers, who provide us the food, does not make for a hopeful picture. In a country that prided itself on its agrarian past, it is a sad turn of events.

It hurts….your pen is sharp….your thoughts clear….wish people get the sense out of it…people who have power and can really help bring change in the life of farmers….

Hi, Now a days, weather is changing dramatically and we don’t have control over on that. Even Study finds climate change may dramatically reduce wheat production or something more. So, Farmers have to keep patience rather than suicide or any other activities. Thanks for your great effort.

Beautiful poem which brings out the reality. I have a small hobby farm in a nearby village and I know from our traditional farmers how sad their plight is.
    Regards.

Love that photo~! Oh, wow …

Is your farmer unable to charge a fair price for his product? Farmer-suicide surely stems from the Hand of Government, or perhaps the local Mafia?

      Thanks.

You are right our average farmer is uneducated and therefore is suffering at the hand of “all”…..which you have mentioned.

Reblogged this on heather awen archives and commented:
I just read this poem about the suicide rate of Indian farmers. This where the Vanir cry, even Ingvi Freyr curses and wails. Gerda’s eye grow dark with knowledge of the truth. Gullveig Heid takes my hand and Freyja gives me a nod. “This is OUR Ragnarok.”

Thanks for shedding a light on these farmers plight. It’seems amazing how much we don’t know. We live in a age where we are a global community and yet world news is still limited to what’s going on in their own country. Thanks for sharing this information.
